Camp background information...
The vision for Camp Tapawingo began in 1953 when a 160 acre parcel with a lodge was purchased.

The name "Camp Tapawingo" was selected through a contest. Tapawingo means "Place of Joy".

In 1991, a nine acre parcel just west of Tapawingo, consisting of an A-frame home and a two acre pond stocked with trout was added to the property. This recreational facility can used for small retreats, or for family "getaways".

A chapel was built in the 1950's and an in-ground swimming pool installed in the 1970's. A retreat center for groups up to 24 was added in the 1980's.

For the first 20 years, the camp was only in operation from late May until Labor Day, until a camp manager was hired in 1975. Now the camp is used year-round.

The Tapawingo experience has changed many lives since it's inception. Many letters and notes have been received from people expressing how the camp has touched them and brought them closer to God. It has also been a great place for family retreats.
